Would you like to dramatically improve the look of your shower area without ripping your current shower out and replacing it altogether? You’ll have one really great option when you’re working your way through bathroom remodeling in San Jose, CA. You can install what’s called an acrylic bath system. It fits right over top of your existing shower and tub and makes it look like new again. The installation process is very simple, too. Here’s how easy it is to put an acrylic bath system into place.
Step 1: A bathroom remodeling contractor checks out your current shower and tub setup.
The first thing that a San Jose, CA bathroom remodeling contractor will do when you express an interest in installing an acrylic bath system is come out and take a look at your existing shower and tub setup. Acrylic bath systems can be installed over most shower and tub setups, but there are some instances in which this might not be the case. Your contractor will let you know if you’re a good candidate for an acrylic bath system.
Step 2: An acrylic three-wall system is installed over top of the existing walls in your shower and tub area.
If your contractor finds that you are, in fact, eligible to install an acrylic bath system, the next thing they’ll do is install an acrylic three-wall system on top of the walls that you have in your shower and tub area. This system will cover the walls from the ceiling down to the floor. It’ll also have a bullnose located on the front edge of it that will provide your side walls with a finished look.
Step 3: An acrylic bath liner is molded over top of your old tub.
Once the acrylic three-wall system is installed, your contractor will work on installing a 1/4-inch-thick acrylic bathliner over your current bathtub. This bathliner is custom-molded so that it fits snugly over the tub. To ensure it will fit, a contractor will measure your tub ahead of time and take a few photos of it. This will make the bathliner appear as though it’s a brand-new version of your old tub.
Step 4: Shower and tub accessories are added to the space and sealed.
There are a bunch of different shower and tub accessories that you can add to an acrylic bath system if you so choose. You can install accessories like grab bars, soap dishes, towel caddies, wainscoting, shower doors, and more. These accessories must be installed properly to prevent damage from being done to your acrylic bath system. They also need to be sealed to prevent moisture from getting back behind your acrylic bath system. The seams in the system itself should be sealed as well for this same reason. You’ll be left with a beautiful acrylic bath system in the end that brightens up your entire bathroom space.
