How Long Will My Bathroom Remodel Take?

If you are planning a Newport Beach, CA bathroom remodeling, the most important thing you probably want to know (after cost) is how long it will take to complete. This is an understandable concern. After all, having construction going on in your home can disrupt your daily life, and, if you only have one bathroom, it can disrupt it that much more.

Since each bathroom remodel timeline is different, we can’t tell you exactly how long one will take. Your individual timeline will depend on how much work you are getting done, what materials you choose, and more. What we can do is give you an idea of the phases and how the remodels typically flow to give you a sense of what to expect.

Demolition

This is the first stage and is often the most exciting for many homeowners. Before starting this phase, the room’s electricity, as well as the water supply to the sink, toilet, bath, and shower, will be turned off. Then, items such as toilets, baseboards, towel racks, shower tiles, etc. will be removed and cleared out to make way for the new work to be completed. This is also a good time to check for any mold, mildew, or water damage so that it may be fixed.

Plumbing

With the bathroom bare, the plumbers can come in and begin the plumbing for the new items This could include things like installing a water line for dual shower heads or installing modifications to a line to be suitable for a dual sink.

Electrical

The electrical work will be completed next. This could include things like changing out 15-amp wiring with a 20-amp to run hairdryers and other bathroom accessories more efficiently, or changing locations of outlets or light switches.

Carpentry

If your bathroom needs it, any carpentry will be completed at this time.

Painting

Painting the bathroom before the things are installed such as the vanity, toilet, or other elements will ensure that paint does not splatter on these fixtures.

Time for Tiles

The tiles will be installed first for the bathroom enclosure and/or shower walls first, then the floor tiles will be installed.

Shower Door

Once the shower tiles are in place and have been grouted, the shower door will be set on its track and put in place.

Installing the Sink and Other Fixtures

Last but not least all the fixtures like the vanity and toilet are now installed. They are then connected to the plumbing needed and your bathroom is complete!
